Logan, UT (March 1, 2005) -- The Open Sustainable Learning Opportunity
(OSLO) Group at Utah State University announced today the
expansion of the Open Learning
Support pilot program with MIT
OpenCourseWare.
Last spring MIT and Utah State University announced a joint project
to pilot the integration of social software with select collections of
course materials in MIT OpenCourseWare. Judging the initial pilot a
success, USU and MIT have now expanded the pilot to eighteen courses,
and will increase this number into the hundreds later this spring.
"We're very happy to be able to continue this relationship with MIT
OpenCourseWare," said Dr. David Wiley, Executive Director of the Open
Sustainable Learning Opportunity Group at Utah State University. "We
have already seen several instances of individuals connecting to
provide each other with very high quality support, and expect to see
incidences of this sort increase as we move out of our pilot phase and
into large scale integration with MIT OCW."
The Open Learning Support software is funded by a grant from The William and Flora Hewlett
Foundation.
